Welcome to the Indianapolis Poodle
Rescue (IPR) Board Page
Handi Skorich - President
Handi with 3
rescue poodles, Marcus, Chip and Dale
Handi is the owner of "Shear
Magic" grooming and boarding . She received her BA in Human
Relations from Judson College (Elgin, IL) in 1981. She has taken
advanced course work in Counseling Psychology at Ball State
University. Handi worked in social work for nearly 20 years with
"at risk" individuals and individuals with developmental
disabilities.
Handi has bred numerous Champion
collies and miniature poodles over the past 25 years. Handi's
dogs have achieved titles in the areas : Champion, Herding
Certified, Top Producer, Therapy Dog, Canine Good Citizen, and
Obedience. (Approximately 40 individual titles). In 2009 Handi
and her co-breeders were recognized as AKC miniature poodle
breeders of the year and Handi's miniature poodle Peggy Sue was
named AKC top producing miniature dam. Handi is a member of
Poodle Club of Central Indiana.
Handi and her partner Grace have a
standard poodle and three miniatures living in their home. Handi
began Poodle Rescue in 1997 as part of Poodle Club of Central
Indiana. It later became Indianapolis Poodle Rescue. She saw a
need to rescue poodles "down on their luck." Few people
recognized that there was a need for a purebred poodle rescue.
It became her passion to see that these rescues had forever
homes.
Don
Shutovich, Vice President
One of my most recent life
experiences is the ownership of a retail business. The ownership
of that business required an extensive list of functions and
duties. Some of which were:
developing a sales and marketing
plan, generate income and control expenses,
directing and managing other people,
multiple record keeping duties,
networking in the community,
and a whole lot more
I have had the privilege of
having wonderful miniature poodles in my life for 17 years. That
experience has led me to interested
in volunteering my time in the
support of Indianapolis Poodle Rescue. Which my wife and I have
became involved in since our move to
Indiana from Ohio
in 2009. That involvement has been extremely rewarding and I
have come to the realization that I would like to increase my
role in what I feel is an extremely worthy cause.

married to Brad (IPR Director of Operations) since 1986 and they
have two sons. She graduated with an Associates Degree from Ball

Amanda Hessel - Board Member
Amanda is married with three
grown children.
She owned a portrait photography
business for years and recently made photography her hobby.
Owning a small business prepared her for
the many responsibilities that come along with being a board
member of IPR.
She has owned many dogs over the years
but the poodle has won her heart.
It is her belief that careful and
deliberate placement with each adoption is crucial and is
devoted to the process.
